the reason why is there is no time?
It is time to make some serious changes in how our government works. The Senate wants to spend $1.7 trillion dollars, again. You need to know, Congress doesn’t read bills. They say the reason why is there is no time? In truth, they sorta don’t. The Senate passed a bill with more than 4000 pages and sent it to the House. After it is approved by the House it goes to the President and he must sign it. This all needs to be done by Friday night to avoid a government shutdown.
This is sadly, how our government operates. This is exactly how wasteful spending slips through the cracks. Congress will approve a bill that they didn’t even read. Is it any wonder this country is trillions in debt? This is mind-blowing. It really needs to change. We have members of the Republican party fighting with each other over Kevin McCarthy becoming the new Speaker of the House. Maybe time would be better spent reading what they are voting on.
they need a bill to tell them to read the bill?
Are these people children? Do we seriously need to tell them they need to read a bill before voting on it? Apparently, we do. There is a bill that will tell them to read the bill. Rand Paul brings it up almost yearly. 7 times he has introduced this legislation and it gets dropped. Okay, so it’s ridiculous that there needs to be such a bill, right? Then they drop this bill. Why? Because they don’t want to read the bills?
does anyone in Washington do their job?
Where are the checks and balances? The Senate draws up a bill, secretly, and sends it off to Congress who votes on it without reading it. That is not how this system works. The reason for 3 branches of government is for checks and balances. This is absolutely crazy. With a bill 4000 pages, and you read a page a minute, you will need 67 hours to read it. The public is to be able to read this as well.
Does anyone in Washington do their job? Come on, these people are paid by taxpayers to do a job. They are suppose to represent the people. They clearly are not doing that and the fact that they need a bill that tells them or requires them to read a bill, is ludicrous. Are they children? Do they need told to read their book before doing their report? It seems so.
what exactly is in the Omnibus Bill?
Does anyone know what is in this bill that is spending $1.7 trillion dollars? $773 billion is for domestic programs. $858 billion is for defense funding.
Ukraine will get another $45 billion. It is time we know what they have done with the money they already received. We are footing the bill for this war. No other country has spent anywhere near what the U.S. has spent on this war. Again, a war that’s been going on for nearly 9 years.
the government shutdown scare tactic is old
So our Congressmen and women had like a day to read a bill that would take over a week to read fully and understand. The public had no time to read it. It seems unlikely that even the Senate knows all that is in it. The Senate draws this bill up quickly and waits until the last minute to send it to the House. The Senate knows damn well there is no time for anyone to read it. They not only wait until the last minute they say it needs pushed through quickly to avoid a government shutdown.
How many times are they going to try and scare people with a government shutdown? That strikes fear in all those who depend on social security and or other government run programs. Is it fair to do that considering it is them who can’t seem to get their jobs done? Maybe they should start focusing on important issues like a budget for the U.S., so their is no shutdown. They do that deliberately to force through things they snuck into the bill. Maybe they are the ones who need their big fat salaries held up for not getting their jobs done in time.
it’s time for accountability
We just had an election. People voted to keep the status quo in the Senate. Does that mean everyone is happy with the spending? What about the inflation? Is everyone happy with their current food bill and heating bill? Seems like they are. The elections are the time for you all to vote for change. You had the opportunity to change the Senate. You voted against it and now this will continue. Crazy spending on God knows what, is the pattern people voted on to keep. Do Americans understand that no one knows where their tax money goes until it’s too late?
