Johnson goes to Ukraine
Boris Johnson went to Kyiv, Ukraine to meet Pres. Zelenskyy in person. It was a surprise visit. Johnson is going to give Ukraine more aid. A lot more aid. 130 million is high grade military equipment. Anti aircraft, anti tank missiles, 120 armored vehicles, and new anti ship missile systems. Johnson said that it was important they have equipment that is operable by Ukrainians. If Parliament gives the okay, they will give an additional 500 million in World Bank lending. A total loan guarantee of 1 billion.
Johnson said Ukraine’s defied the odds and pushed Russia back from Kyiv. The greatest feat of arms in the 21st century. Johnson wanted it clear that U.K. stands with Ukraine and will for the long haul.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly asked for help. He addressed the U.N. and accused Russia of genocide.
His speeches are always moving and powerful. He is desperate to save his people. He addressed Congress a few weeks ago.
Zelenskyy must have been over the moon with his surprise visitor. The image of Johnson and Zelenskyy walking around Kyiv should go down in history. It’s a beautiful and powerful photo.
